Connecting Apple Health or Health Connect
Last updated
Link Moveno to your phone's health app so data like weight and burned calories arrives automatically — you choose what you share.
Connecting is optional and entirely up to you. The standard connection asks only for read access — writing data back to your health app is a separate choice. On iPhone, Moveno uses Apple Health; on Android, Moveno uses Health Connect (not Google Fit).
How it works
- Go to Profile → Preferences.
- Open the Integrations card.
- Tap to connect Apple Health (iPhone) or Health Connect (Android).
- Approve the permissions in the system dialog that appears — you can pick which categories to share.
- Optionally open the per-category detail screen to see exactly what each permission is used for.
Good to know
- The fixed entry point is always Profile → Preferences → Integrations. A contextual prompt can also appear — for example on an empty weight chart after you've logged a few meals.
- The standard connection requests 6 read categories: weight, height, body fat, active calories, workouts, and nutrition.
- iPhone uses Apple Health; Android uses Health Connect, not Google Fit.
- On Android 14 and newer Health Connect is built into the operating system. On Android 9 to 13 you must first install the Health Connect app from the Play Store.
- Android older than version 9 is not supported — the Integrations card is then hidden with a "requires Android 9 or newer" note.
- Apple Health and Health Connect can't tell Moveno whether you declined read access or there's simply no data yet. So Moveno shows a friendly empty state instead of an error.
- Your consent is recorded with an audit trail. Health data is special-category data (GDPR Article 9): it is never used for advertising, never sold, and never shared with data brokers.
- You can revoke access at any time through your phone's settings: on iPhone via Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Moveno; on Android via the Health Connect settings. The Integrations detail screen links you straight to these settings.
Common questions
I don't see the Integrations card. On Android this means your version is older than Android 9, or Health Connect isn't installed.
Health Connect asks me to install an app first. That's normal on Android 9 to 13. Install Health Connect from the Play Store and connect again.
I connected but no data is appearing. Read access may have been declined, or there may be no data in your health app yet.
Why does Moveno ask for so many health permissions? Each category powers a feature: weight and height for your profile, active calories for your daily goal, nutrition for write-back. You choose which ones to share.
I'm on Android and expected Google Fit — why Health Connect? Health Connect is Google's official successor as the central health hub, so that's what Moveno works with.
How do I revoke access again? Through your phone's settings: on iPhone via Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Moveno, on Android via the Health Connect settings. The Integrations detail screen takes you there directly.
