Syncing weight with your health app (import and write-back)

Last updated

Let weight from your health app flow into Moveno automatically — and, if you want, write your Moveno weight back so it also appears in Apple Health or Health Connect and other apps.

Importing (reading) is part of the standard connection. Writing back (writing) is a separate toggle that is off by default — keeping the "Moveno only reads what you choose" principle intact.

How it works

  1. Connect Apple Health or Health Connect via Profile → Preferences → Integrations and allow weight read access. Imported weight then appears on your chart automatically.
  2. Want to send your Moveno weight back to your health app? Open the Integrations detail screen.
  3. Turn on the "Write-back / Terugschrijven" toggle.
  4. Approve the extra write permission in the system dialog.
  5. From then on, weight you log in Moveno is written to your health app, attributed to Moveno.

Good to know

  • Weight import (read) is part of the standard 6-category connection. Weight write-back is a separate toggle that is off by default.
  • Turning write-back on opens a separate system dialog for write access. Your read access is unaffected.
  • Syncing happens when you open the app or bring it to the foreground — there is no continuous background syncing in this version.
  • If you edit a weight that was already written back, Moveno replaces the old entry in your health app (delete old, add new).
  • Turning write-back off stops new writes immediately for this session and stays off after a restart — but it does not delete weight already written.
  • Imports are de-duplicated — the same measurement never comes in twice.
  • Only your body weight is written back. Body composition such as muscle mass and visceral fat is not written.
  • If you delete your Moveno account, your data is erased from Moveno — but weight already written to Apple Health or Health Connect stays in your health app. You manage that there yourself.

Common questions

My Moveno weight isn't in Apple Health. Write-back is off by default. Turn on the "Write-back" toggle on the Integrations detail screen.

I turned write-back off but old entries are still there. Turning it off stops new writes but doesn't remove past entries. Manage those in your health app.

It isn't syncing right now. Syncing starts when you open the app. Just reopen Moveno.

I edited a weight in Moveno — will Apple Health update too? Yes, if write-back is on: the old entry is replaced by the new one.

I see duplicate entries in my health app. Moveno writes each measurement only once. If the duplicate comes from another source, manage it in your health app.
