What data Moveno collects and why
Last updated
Moveno collects only what it needs to track your nutrition, and stores your data privacy-first inside the EU.
How it works
- Create an account with email and password (Apple or Google sign-in may still be disabled in this beta) — this stores your email address and login session.
- Complete onboarding by entering your profile (height, weight, age, sex, activity level and your goal) — we use this to calculate your daily calorie and macro targets.
- Log meals by photo, barcode, or search — Moveno stores the recognised foods, your corrections, weight entries, and any meal photos you save.
- Set any dietary preferences or allergen filters — these are stored to filter your food results.
- Optionally allow anonymous analytics or country detection — these are extra, optional data types you opt into.
Good to know
- Account data: your email address, an encrypted password, and your login sessions.
- Profile data: height, weight, age, sex, activity level, and nutrition goals.
- Health-related data is treated as sensitive (GDPR Art. 9): dietary preferences, allergen filters, weight entries, food logs, and meal photos.
- Scanning data: barcode scans, AI food-recognition results, and your corrections.
- Usage data: anonymous app analytics — only if you allow it.
- Location data: only your country code (e.g. NL, DE) — only if you enable country detection. GPS coordinates are never stored.
- Consent records: your choices with timestamps.
- Storage: your core data is held in the EU (Frankfurt); meal photos are stored in the EU region.
- Exception for meal photos: for food recognition they are sent to AI services (Google, Anthropic) under EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).
- Age: Moveno is intended for users aged 16 and over.
