Search for a food by name
Last updated
No clear photo or barcode? Type the food's name and pick from suggestions that appear straight away.
How it works
- Open the Scan tab and set the switcher to Search (the three modes are Photo / Barcode / Search).
- Start typing the food name — suggestions appear as you type.
- Tap a suggestion, or finish typing to see the full results.
- Tap the food to open it, adjust the portion or number of servings, and pick the meal type.
- Tap Save to log the meal.
Good to know
- Suggestions show a few options and dismiss when you tap elsewhere.
- Search works in your language; results can come from multiple country databases — Dutch (NEVO), German (BLS), French, UK, Nordic, Swiss, and Finnish sources, USDA, Open Food Facts, and user corrections.
- Use singular Dutch terms for the best matches (e.g. ei rather than eieren, aardappel rather than aardappelen).
- You can apply dietary filters to narrow results (allergen-free, diet, and health labels).
- Product names display in your language where available, falling back to the original packaging language.
- Search requires an active subscription or an in-window 14-day free trial.
Common questions
