The feed: sharing meals, privacy, and reactions
Last updated
What goes into the group feed is up to you — every single time.
The Feed tab shows the meals that members have chosen to share. Sharing is always your choice, and you have three per-group privacy toggles to control exactly how you appear.
How it works — sharing a meal
- Log a meal as usual (photo, barcode, or search).
- On the results screen, use the per-group share toggle to choose whether this meal goes into each group's feed. The toggle is pre-set on or off based on that group's default setting.
- Save the meal — shared meals appear in that group's Feed tab.
- Open the group and select the Feed tab to view it. Meals load 15 per page; pull down to refresh.
Good to know — per-meal sharing
- Sharing is a per-meal opt-in: the toggle on the results screen decides whether a meal is shared, pre-set from each group's default.
- Flipping the toggle for one meal is one-shot — it does not change the group's default; your next meal starts again from the group default.
- Your older meals are never shared retroactively.
- This lets you quietly log a "sensitive" meal privately without it appearing in the group — and without breaking your logging streak on the leaderboard.
The three per-group privacy toggles
Open the group, then the group settings sheet. There you'll find three independent toggles plus a button to leave the group. Settings save automatically.
- Show me in the feed — a retroactive kill switch: turning it off hides all of your visibility in that feed, both future and past.
- Show photos in the feed — share meal data but hide the photos (text-only mode).
- Share my meals by default — sets whether new meals are pre-checked to share to this group. This does not change already-logged meals.
In this version there are no notification toggles; push notifications are coming in a future update.
Reacting in the feed
Cheer on group members with one of three positive emoji on a shared meal: fire, clap, or muscle. There are no text comments, replies, or negative reactions.
- Tap an emoji to react; tap the same one again to remove it.
- Reactions appear instantly and confirm in the background.
- Reacting is limited to about 30 times per minute.
Common questions
Was my meal shared without me noticing? No — a meal is only shared if the toggle was on when you saved it. The toggle is pre-set from the group default, so review it if you don't want a meal shared.
I turned off sharing for one meal — did that change my group setting? No — a per-meal choice is one-shot and doesn't change the group default.
Can I share the meal but hide the photo? Yes — turn off "Show photos in the feed" to share only the text data.
How do I stop appearing in a group's feed entirely? Turn off "Show me in the feed" — that hides your future and past visibility in that group.
Can I comment or reply with text? No — only the three positive emoji reactions are available.
